Over the time the connection points of the linkage which operate swirl flaps wear out and lead to a malfunctioning of the intake manifold. This is a common fault for the intake manifold swirl flap mechanism of Mercedes-Benz OM642 V6 CDI / CRD engines. The plastic material used in the construction of the intake manifold is the main source of the problem.
